The Achilles is the largest tendon in the human body. It is formed by three muscles and it crosses over several joints. There are several ways to treat an Achilles Tendon injury, including non-surgical and minimally invasive options in some cases. More serious injuries may need reconstructive techniques to put the tendon back together.
Rehabilitation includes a period of non-weight baring activity and intense physical therapy. It can take as long as a year to recover. There's a 20% chance if you suffer an Achilles Tendon injury, you may have an injury to the opposite leg.
