Out of the 3 major methods of entangling a leg the Kani Basami is the one I am asked most frequently about. The move is very nuanced but when done correctly can yield tremendous results. It's an extremely efficient and dynamic movement which will give you the ability to entangle an opponent into the Cross Ashi Garami position from which point you'll be able to begin pursuing leglocks, sweeps, back takes etc. The movement has a long and storied history in Judo, Sambo and modern NoGi Submission Grappling (especially in the Submission Only movement).
If you are interested in learning more about the movement the most comprehensive overall course on the topic is available right now for purchase on my website RobertDegleBJJOnline.com
