Whether you DIY it, or buy it, or a little of both…dehydrated and freeze dried foods should have a place in your prepper pantry food storage!
Some of the pros and cons…
Freeze Dried
Pros: retains the most nutrients. 25 year shelf life, closest to fresh food, lightweight and easy to pack with you, doesn’t require any additives or preservatives, easy to refresh, can eat dry.
Cons: cost, highly power dependent
Dehydrated
Pros: Shrinks in size to fit more in less space, more affordable, can be done with little to no electricity, makes some tasty snacks.
Cons: Loss of nutrients, will never be the same as fresh, not as long shelf life.
