The European Commission's new Aviation Strategy sets out a road map for a more competitive EU aviation sector covering all areas of EU air transport policy. It will broaden the offer for passengers: more connections, better service at a better price; improve market access and provide new business opportunities for European companies; base the EU's relations with third countries on fair, transparent and reciprocal terms. Aviation is a strong driver of economic growth, jobs, trade and mobility for the European Union and plays a crucial role in the EU economy. The sector employs almost 2 million people in the EU and is worth €110 billion to Europe's economy. The aviation traffic in Europe is predicted to reach 14.4 million flights in 2035, 50% more than in 2012. EU Reporter speaks to Association of European Airlines CEO Athar Husain Khan.
