The US Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington has held a media preview of an exhibit entitled "The Splendor of Diamonds", with seven of the world's most extraordinary stones on view.
The diamonds include the 59.60-carat Steinmetz Pink diamond, considered by many to be one of the most precious stones in the world, as well as the 203-carat De Beers Millennium Star, one of the world's largest diamonds.
The exhibit will be open to the public from Friday (June 27).
Christian Samper, of the Smithsonian, said it was the first time that the seven diamonds had been brought together.
Actress Jenna Elfman, who was chosen to wear the Steinmetz Pink at the media preview, said wearing the precious stone made her feel like a princess.
One of the other diamonds on display, the Pumpkin Diamond, was worn on a ring by actress Halle Barry when she accepted her Best Actress Oscar for the movie, 'Monster's Ball'.
The Pumpkin diamond is currently on sale for three (m) million US dollars.
