Today the villagers are cleaning the acorns picked from wild oaks in the mountain. First they lay out and start peeling the acorns by hand. They remove the shells and caps. As they brew some hot tea and lead the goats to their shed, the peeling process is finished. The village woman leaves the acorn shells for the goats to feed on, and then they lay the cleaned acorns under the sun to dry.
Acorns are used for a variety of purposes in the countryside. Mostly for making acorn bread (Kalg bread). in the cold winters, the villagers leave acorns in fire pans and let them pop. Baked acorn can be a good snack on cold nights.
Hi and welcome to Chilteh. I try to document the lifestyle of Lor villagers and the beautiful Iranian countryside. Living in the Iranian countryside is hard, but the simplicity and purity of rural lifestyle makes up for it. Take a look at my other videos for more content on village life.
