In video footage large crowds could be seen gathered at the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Tehran to hold a memorial for Hamidreza Rouza, a 19-year-old university student who was shot and killed by security services in November.
People were seen chanting slogans and pumping their fists in the air before the gathering was violently dispersed by security forces.
Nationwide unrest has erupted since mid-September, after Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian woman, died while in custody after she was arrested by morality police enforcing the Islamic Republic's mandatory dress code laws.
