Over 40 million Americans have vein disease, but only 6-8% receive treatment. Venous insufficiency is a common but often undiagnosed disorder affecting 16-20% of Americans. Patients may initially present with leg pain, swelling, or varicose veins, but can eventually develop serious complications, such as blood clots, lymphedema, venous stasis dermatitis, and/or venous ulcers.
This informative session was held live on July 31, 2020 and discusses the pathophysiology, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments of venous insufficiency. Participants learned about the staging/classification, the disorder, how duplex ultrasonography is used to evaluate patients, and how modern outpatient treatments have revolutionized the management of venous insufficiency.
