Picture this: You’re chugging along, getting things done when suddenly you hear the theme song to your favorite childhood TV show. No, you haven’t just stepped back in time, your phone is ringing (and it’s really time to change your ringtone).
The problem with cellphones is they make it too easy to keep in touch. Unfortunately, concentration gets blown to smithereens every time we hear it ring, whether we answer it or not. This kind of constant interruption can really wreak havoc on the day.
If you’re wanting to get on top of this time management thing, and still have time for the fun stuff in life (including talking to your friends on the phone), it’s time to set some boundaries. When you need to buckle down and work, simply turn the phone to silent mode, or better yet, turn it off altogether.
As for the rest of the world? Let them leave a message. This will take some self-discipline, but after a while, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it a long time ago!
