Genesis 19: Understanding the Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah - The Theology of the Book of Genesis – Sacred Scripture has a very profound theology of salvation and judgement, themes which run throughout salvation history and will reach a climax when Christ Returns. Hence, the themes of Judgement and salvation are prominent when Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed while Lot and his daughters are rescued. Indeed, the Lord will judge unrighteous and save His righteous servants. The concept of a future judgement is entirely hopeful because it underlines that all opposition to the Lord’s kingship will one day cease and the righteous who have suffered countless injustices will be vindicated and rewarded.
