Shoreline Amp. 1993
Sammy: I remember writing this song laying on the beach with Eddie in Malibu getting ready to go into the studio to work on the F.U.C.K. record. A bunch of beautiful ladies walked by us kind of flirting and I just said "now that's some Poundcake" and we laughed all the way into the studio and wrote the song. Later Eddie put the drill part on it and boom there you go. It was so iconic to start that song live with the drill from a black stage, the place would go nuts. @sammyandthecircle still plays this song today, one of my faves.
Mikey: Sammy pretty much covered the writing background on the song, but I have a little more trivia and how the drill part in the beginning came to be! One of the days when we were at 5150 working up the music, Eddie had been working on one of his guitars and had this drill sitting next to the console in the control room. Goofing around, he picked up the drill and started revving it up over his pickups as we were about to start the song, and it sounded fucking great! Alex put the drumbeat over it and all of us decided to leave the drill noise on it. BOOM, the beginning of Poundcake!!
