Welcome to our Romance Language Challenge, where we test the mutual intelligibility between Portuguese and other Romance languages! If you're a speaker of French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish or any other Romance Language, let us know if you can understand what word is described in this mini-challenge. Whether you're a language enthusiast or just curious about how well speakers of Romance languages can understand each other, this challenge is for you!

Mutual intelligibility is the ability of speakers of different languages to understand each other without prior knowledge or special effort. In the case of Romance languages, mutual intelligibility exists to varying degrees due to their shared origin in Vulgar Latin and the influence of the Roman Empire.

The Romance languages include Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Romanian, and many more smaller regional languages. While these languages have evolved over time and developed distinct features, they still share many similarities in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, which allow speakers to understand each other to some extent.
