MCi Carbon is an Australian-based global clean technology company transforming carbon dioxide into building materials and other valuable industrial products for the circular economy.
MCi was announced as the #1 Clean Tech at COP26 and was awarded the 2022 NSW Clean Technology Award, presented by the Banksia Foundation. MCi is based in Canberra with an industrial headquarters in Newcastle and a global reference pilot plant at the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER).
Founded in 2013, the company has developed a low-cost, low-pressure, low-energy chemical engineering process to transform CO2 emissions from industrial sources into solid materials which can be used to create a range of products. Its mission is to contribute to the industrial pathway to zero emissions by removing 1 billion tonnes of CO2.
MCi has received global recognition for its R&D, including the 2018 Resource Innovator of the Year award at the New Materials Summit in Berlin and being featured at the World Economic Forum Pioneers of Change Summit 2020.
Recently featured in Forbes, The New York Times, and the Australian Financial Review, with CEO Marcus Dawe and COO Sophia Hamblin Wang named in the Top 100 Australian Green Power Players, published in The Australian.
