Franz Doppler (1821–1883) was a flute virtuoso and a composer best known for his flute music. He played in several orchestras and became a Professor of Flute at the Vienna Conservatoire. This piece, the Andante et Rondo in A Major, op. 25, was composed in 1874 for two flutes and piano. Doppler also wrote more music for two flutes and piano.
