We were honored to have Mr. Mirza Dinnayi, 2019 Aurora Prize Laureate for Awakening Humanity & Head, Luftbrücke Irak (Air Bridge Iraq) and Mr. Karim Al-Nouri, Deputy Minister of Displacement & Migration, Republic of Iraq with us on the occasion of the Seventh Annual Commemoration of the #YazidiGenocide.
Mr. Mirza Dinnayi shared his thoughts:
"You need a strong international engagement, you need a strong … maybe an international fund. I am calling from this, the international community to establish an international fund for rebuilding Sinjar in order to facilitate the returning back of the Yazidis.”
“The UNHCR and different international organization has built very simple tent that are not suitable even for normal life, […] and we find that every month there are a lot of fire accidents in Sinjar region lastly, in IDP camps, lastly, in Sharaya camps where 400 tents were burned."
Mr. Karim Al-Nouri added:
"We are on the threshold of and in mid-2021, it is not right that our country still has displaced persons, this is not right and for this reason we are today, with the assistance of the international organizations, going forward in facilitating the return of the displaced to their homes, and our role is to deliver shelter and relief. “
"We state honestly, that today the role of the Ministry of Migration and Displacement is to deliver relief and shelter and to provide support for the displaced. However, the security checks and what is related to the diagnosis of the security situation is out of our hands […]”

The Seventh annual commemoration of the #YazidiGenocide was held under the patronage of of His Excellency Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al Kadhimi. The two-day commemoration took place on Zoom on August 2-3, 2021 and was hosted by Yazda in partnership with The Zovighian Partnership.
We welcomed 35 speakers and panelists with over 300 delegates and more than 14,000 live online followers.
