Amazing piece at a mindblowing speed of 192 per quarter... a real tarantella! Something I never said before: I normally don't like tarantellas, but this one is one of the few which is fine. And really playable, the figurations are not fingerbreaking like Liszt or similar. The piece is by the way dedicated to Marmontel, I played several pieces by him too. I make videos of several pieces of this set today but they will come from time to time. It was 24 minutes of recordings altogether. There was not a "bad" piece in the set, but some which were for example too difficult for what the give, so I didn't play them. They were composed 1883.
As always, for the "last 20%" to a great recording I am noticing issues with the keyboard I am using. But it's fine, I am starting to learn to live with it. Of course it's a bit unfortunate because I could do better, but I hope to some people this name Pierné will get more known and interesting. I only knew him because of the c minor piano concerto on YouTube, a big success apparently. I like the concerto, it's so simple but still effective.
I tried to play with fire... that's quite important for a quick tarantella like that one I believe!!!
