After a tough couple of weeks at work, I needed some 'me time', and what better way to spend the day than casting a few flies. I thought long and hard about how to start - the river beckoned so the morning was spent on the river, and it was a day for nymphs. After lunch things got tough. Try what I might, the rainbows were just not interested until late in the afternoon when the sun went down behind the trees. After a number of fly changes, the Cormorant came into it's own. Retrieved on a steady figure of eight, the fish couldn't resist! It's a real game changer fly when the fish are playing hard to get.
