An old BBC radio broadcast of a classic detective Maigret story
A princess and a count have loved each other since their youth and, prevented from marrying, exchange secret love letters for fifty years. The princess has just been widowed and seems determined to fulfill the wish she has cherished all her life. But suddenly, the Count is murdered in his mansion in the most aristocratic district of Paris. This is yet another case for Commissioner Maigret who, this time, is immersed in a world that is both strange and familiar to him - that of the Parisian aristocracy.
