It's been a boon for consumers - but has also resulted in new and innovative health technologies. 2014 will also be the year supercomputers begin in earnest to build the first simulation of the brain. The 1.6 billion dollar Human Brain Project will take 10 years to complete, but promises to give us an unprecedented understanding of how the brain works.
