The narcissist has spent decades perfecting their game of control and manipulation and they are masters. In order to feel in control, they must control those around them. Everything becomes a battle or wills with the narcissist and they need to ensure that you know they are in charge, even for things that don’t even matter. When you know how to deal with the narcissist then you can take the control from them. When the narcissist doesn’t like what you are doing, they use various narcissistic punishment tactics to regain their sense of control. Some might be silent treatment and others could be belittling and name calling. The narcissist will also use gaslighting to make you feel more uncertain of yourself. To take control from the narcissist means you take control of your life and no longer are the punching bag for the narcissist’s insecurities. When the narcissist cant control you they start to use more and more of their punishment tactics. Stop making the narcissist feel important by boosting their depleting narcissistic supply. The silent treatment narcissistic abuse will continue to be a way in which they control you and you feel more out of control and lose focus on yourself.
