Britain and the US conducted a new wave of airstrikes on at least 30 Houthi targets in Yemen. It’s the third round of joint strikes against the Iran-backed Houthis. The aim is to prevent further attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea.
Grant Shapps, the defence secretary, said it was Britain’s duty to protect innocent lives and Red Sea trade. “This is not an escalation,” he said. “We have already successfully targeted launchers and storage sites involved in Houthi attacks, and I am confident that our latest strikes have further degraded the Houthis’ capabilities.”
