There, Nastia followed in her parents’ footsteps, quickly ascending to the top of her sport. In this conversation, Nastia discusses her legendary 2008 Olympic battle with fellow American Shawn Johnson, the effects of that rivalry on the two gymnasts’ friendship, her attempt to make the 2012 Olympics, and what she’s learned from both winning and falling short on the world’s biggest stage.
