A little over 3 months since my elbow dislocation and I am thrilled with the recovery I have made. In the beginning I was extremely down and pessimistic about the dislocation and ligament tears. I could not come close to touching my face with my dislocated arm. I was not able to put my hand flat on a table and extend my arm without unbearable pain shooting through my forearm. I felt I may never regain full range of motion, be able to push myself in the gym, or even complete daily tasks without pain. I am happy to say that is not the case. Consistent rest, therapy, and stretching have allowed me to get back to living the active and nearly pain free lifestyle I had before my elbow dislocation.

For those who have had recent elbow dislocations and are looking for others' outcomes I have advice. It is important to understand that although it will take time you will get better. Even if you fractured your elbow along with the dislocation, it will eventually get better. Remember that and continue to work on your rehabilitation. Doing a little something every day is better than feeling sorry for yourself and/or giving up on recovery because you don't see the immediate results. Find yourself a good therapist. I started therapy 3 weeks after the injury because the torn ligaments had to begin healing. Good luck and stay positive!
