Exocet AM39 is an air-launched anti-ship missile that provides airborne capability within the Exocet anti-ship missile family.
The missile can currently be launched from as many as 14 types of aircraft, including fighter and maritime patrol aircraft as well as helicopters. It has the capacity to engage targets over long ranges (as far as 70km), depending on launch altitudes and speed, and enables aircraft to remain at safe range from enemy air defences.
When conducting a low-altitude attack, the missile may also be launched under the target ship’s radar coverage offering ingress at a very low, sea-skimming altitude.
Exocet AM 39 is in service with the French Navy on its Rafale, and ATL2 Atlantic Aircraft. Exocet AM39 is also deployed on several platforms across a wide range of nations where it has been deployed extensively in various operational theatres.
