Prosecutors investigating the influence-peddling scandal of Park Geun-hye and Choi Soon-sil have requested that the court issue an arrest warrant for the former president. The prosecutors said that Park committed grave violations, including the abuse of her enormous presidential powers and leaking highly classified government information. Prosecutors also said they decided to seek an arrest warrant because Park could destroy evidence. They say there is plenty of evidence pointing to her wrongdoings. However, Park has denied most of the charges against her. The prosecutors said that given the circumstances, requesting an arrest warrant was the right thing to do according to law. The prosecutors are charging Park with bribery, abuse of power and leaks of classified government information in line with the Act on the Aggravated Punishment for Specific Crimes.
