Public participation is a hot topic for city planning for decades. There is a multitude of tools of how to involve citizens and get them interested in an urban project, and urban walks are one of them. In Paris (France), the local media Enlarge your Paris invites its readers to put on hiking shoes and participate in urban walks with experts through the Greater Paris Metropolis. Since 2018, they also organise Grand Paris Express pedestrian workshops, in partnership with the Société du Grand Paris. The objective of these walks is to tour the Grand Paris on foot, discover the route of the future metro lines of the Grand Paris Express and reflect on the place of pedestrians in the metropolis. In this video, UMX travelled to the French capital to discover how these walks allow people to discover the Parisian suburbs in a different way and to get engaged in ongoing urban planning projects.
