Feeding the deer in Nara has been something I've wanted to do for years, and I'm so happy we finally got to! Last time I was in Japan ten years ago we didn't have time to go to Nara and it made me kind of sad, so this definitely made up for it. We originally had a plan of our route through the park, but got sidetracked by deer and starbucks so we wandered a little bit aimlessly at first. The deer were a little aggressive but not in a scary way, very much in the same way our cats are when they want to be fed! it was very funny. We'll be going back in May so I'm excited to see the park in a different season and maybe visit some of the other temples! Highly recommend walking further into the park to feed the deer, especially if you're going for photos or video. The first entrance to the park was very grey and brown because most of the grass was dead, and while there were a ton of deer, it wasn't very photogenic. The rest of Nara park is absolutely beautiful and still has plenty of deer! Though it may be harder to find deer senbei further into the park. We did see some shops selling it but a lot of them were closed.
