After a back surgery the major portion of pain disappears immediately for example if a patient is having lower radiating pain along the legs, very severe pain, immediately after a decompression the major part or the 90% of pain disappears immediately but there will be some amount of pain which will go on for a month or two or maximum for 3 months. But walking independently is usually on the next day of the surgery itself. So they will have initial bit of pain for one or two months and the back pain will also disappear after about 3 months. occasionally implant related pain because e of the screws, the patient may experience even after 3 months but that will also settle with a course of pain killers for one or two days. So the recovery is almost fast and they will recover 90 to 95% in each and every case.
