Today:
Saturday begins on a cool and cloudy note through much of the country with showery rain in the east coast and a few scattered showers elsewhere.
Through the rest of the day outbreaks of rain will become heavy and persistent in the east and north east of England as well as eastern Scotland. The rest of the country should stay relatively dry though some scattered showers are possible in places with a few heavy ones likely in the south and south west.
It will be another very cool day with temperatures an atrocious 10C to 14C on the east coast and 15c To 20C for the rest of the country.
Tonight:
Outbreaks of rain will become very heavy for parts of north east England and southeastern Scotland with a risk of localized flooding in places. The rest of the country should stay dry with skies clearing in the south and west.
Temperatures will be cold tonight for "high summer" with a range from 6C to 12C. Especially chilly where skies clear in the south and west.
Tomorrow:
Outbreaks of rain continue in the north east but should gradually turn lighter and patchier. Most other places stay dry with a mix of cloud and bright spells. The best of any sunshine will be in the south and south west.
Temperatures will be warmer in the south at 20C to 23C which is closer to normal for the time of year but still very chilly in the east and north east at 12C to 15C.
Outlook:
Monday: Heavy rain and thunderstorms pushing northwards across England and Wales. Dry for Scotland. Cool but more humid.
Tuesday: Heavy showers in the east but drier in the west. Warmer.
Wednesday: Heavy rain spreading eastwards. Cooler again.
