The body of the slain opposition leader Boris Nemtsov has been laid to rest with thousands of his supporters paying their final respects.
The 55-year-old′s shocking murder has sent shock waves across Russia,... prompting condemnation at home and abroad.
Speaking at his funeral on Tuesday, many of Nemtsov′s former colleagues said he was a victim of controversy.
"He explained, he discovered the problems, gave arguments, and a lot of people didn′t like him. He became an enemy because he spoke the truth, but many people don′t want the truth. Who could have imagined just three days ago? In Moscow in 2015 an opposition leader having been killed ostentatiously. He was shot down in the center of Moscow."
Nemtsov was shot four times in the back as he walked within sight of the Kremlin walls.
In an interview, just weeks before his assassination, the fierce critic of President Putin said he feared for his life.
Russian investigators say they are still tracking down his killers.
