China’s economy recorded gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2019 – the lowest figure reported since March 1992.
China’s National Bureau of Statistics said the number slid from 6.4 per cent in the first quarter of the year.
Beijing officials predicted that the nation’s economy will continue to face “downward pressure”, as the China-US trade war continues into its second year.
