Part one in our series about the Circleville Letters. This bizarre cold case took place right here in Ohio. It all began in the spring of 1977 when Mary Gillispie received a letter postmarked from Columbus that had no signature and no return address.
The letter accused Mary of having an affair with the Westfall School District superintendent, Gordon Massie, and demanded that she stop the affair immediately.
“I know where you live, I’ve been observing your house and know you have children. This is no joke. Please take it serious.”
Well, things get out of control really quickly and in the end, one man is dead another may be falsely imprisoned, booby traps are set and thousands of letters begin to terrify the community.
