The following videos shows some simple methods for securing your home furniture and fish tanks from toppling over during an earthquake. One method is to use the QuakeHold! Furniture Safety Straps, which are drilled to the stud in your wall and then connected to the furniture using a non-permanent adhesive. These work great for furniture up to 500 pounds, however large fish tanks exceed the weight limit of these straps. For home aquariums I have done a simple DIY project using paracord and stainless steel screw eyes to mimic the QuakeHold! straps but do it by evenly distributing weight over 500lbs.
