In this video, we take a look at the updated Medusa set. This is a Heavy Armor set from the base game dungeon Arx Corinium. Below are the new set bonuses as of 6.1.0
2 pieces: Spell Crit
3 pieces: Spell Crit
4 pieces: Spell Crit
5 pieces: Gain Minor Force at all times, 900 Spell Crit
Since it adds a bunch of crit plus gives us Minor Force at all time, the idea came to use this like magDKs use Elf Bane. This way, we can drop Barbed Trap or Channeled Acceleration and gain some additional spammables. The downside is that, since it is a Heavy set, we would need to transmute jewelry and run 2 armor pieces, preventing us from running a traditional 5/1/1 set-up. In addition, running Barbed Trap helped out our sustain, so we should anticipate a sustain drop by running Medusa.
However, despite these drawbacks, Medusa seems to be a particularly potent set. On a necromancer, we're seeing a decent increase in DPS on the dummy compared to running Spell Strategist. Other end-game players have seen similar DPS increases on various classes when pitted against sets like Mother's Sorrow. Based on the few comparative parses I've seen, you can expect to gain anywhere between 2k to 4k DPS compared to MS on most classes.
So I would recommend farming for this set, assuming nothing changes between now and when the DLC launches. However, I would caution that running this set does eat into your sustain, and so it may be prudent to stick with MS if you already have some issues maintaining a full rotation, as your troubles will only be made worse by switching to Medusa.
