I couldn't find a way to make it happen without an NPC summon. However, I also didn't try the Mimic Tear with Black Flame incantations. But Godfrey/Hoarah Loux's aggressiveness can get quite vicious. I couldn't get past the first phase without a summon. Didn't even get to his buffed first phase with the AOE stomps...
Nepheli Loux is summonable here by completing her questline. Another (additional) summon would be Shabriri. To be able to summon Shabriri you would need to inherit the Frenzied Flame by going underground in the royal/ashen capital Leyndell.
This is actually NG+9. But it doesn't make a difference anyway.
