The Dinnie Stones lift challenge on 19th October 2019 at the home of the famous stones, Potarch Bridge Cafe and Restaurant, Ballogie Estate, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Those taking part were Matt Jones and Stig Parker from Tamworth in England and Jamie Duncan from Brechin, Scotland, all with the support of local strongman Brett Nicol, who has lifted the stones over 300 times. A straddle lift is the usual style, but some having done this before were attempting the side by side lift.
The Dinnie Stones are a pair of Scottish granite lifting stones , with iron rings affixed. They were made famous by strongman Donald Dinnie, who carried the stones barehanded across the width of the Potarch Bridge, a distance of 17 ft 1.5 in 1860. They remain in use as lifting stones and have a combined weight of 332.49 kilograms (733.0 lbs), with the larger stone weighing 188.02 kilograms (414.5 lbs) and the smaller stone weighing 144.47 kilograms (318.5 lbs).
Matt Jones became the youngest person to life the famous Stones here in 2017 and who won the heavy stones walking challange during the 2019 Donald Dinnie Day Games at this location. This challenge dates back to 1860, when the famous Scottish strongman Donald Dinnie carried them across the width of Potarch Bridge and back.
