What is a minimally invasive lumbar interbody fusion (MIS-TLIF)?
MIS stands for minimally invasive surgery and TLIF stands for trans-foraminal lumbar interbody fusion.
Traditionally a TLIF is carried out through a larger wound. At The Spine MDT we are committed to finding the least invasive solution that offers the longest lasting result. The MIS TLIF, is carried out through very small wounds, causes less surrounding tissue trauma, which means less risk and quicker recovery, allowing you to get back to doing the things you enjoy sooner.
If you have been offered this surgery or you are about to undergo it, you may find this video helpful. Here we explain how the procedure is carried out. We go through some if the indications, benefits, recovery and also talk about some of the risks.
