Arborvitae is a beautiful evergreen shrub that can be rooted fairly easy. The main trick is to maintain the humidity level throughout the rooting process. That prevents water loss in the leaves which can be the end of many plant propagation efforts. I maintain a good level of moisture around the arborvitae by covering the entire pot with a cut bottle and by using bottom watering. Cuttings for arborvitae can be taken in the summer through winter of the first year growth. Take a roughly 6 inch cutting, wound the end, and treat with rooting hormone.
