Kristin M, Snowden, MA, LMFT, CDWF specializes in treating and educating on betrayal trauma (infidelity recovery), addiction recovery, and helping individuals/couples navigate relationship crises. This live webinar explores the painful topic of forgiving someone who has betrayed you (i.e. infidelity, problematic pornography use, addiction/substance use issues, lying, cheating, etc.). Even if the betraying partners are working toward recovery and rebuilding trust, betrayed partners experience deep, painful grief and loss while wondering if they're capable of forgiving their partners's betrayal. Many feel lost in the grief and require some guidance and tools to move through the complicated emotions. Our culture struggles with messy emotions, especially grief, loss, and forgiveness. Many are uncomfortable watching others struggle, causing them to try to "fix" the problem, offer empty platitudes, and create a timeline for how long someone’s allowed to struggle with grief. We want to lock up messy emotions like grief, shame, loss, hurt but doing so will often lead to other unhealthy ways behaviors like over/under eating, over/under functioning, addiction, rage, passive aggression, isolation, etc. Every person grieves in a different way, at different times, and views loss differently. It's important to honor everyone’s grief process and respect that it's not a linear, graceful process. Grief, loss, longing, and moving toward forgiveness all require the need to "let something die" in order to move into a new reality/framework that will allow one to move toward forgiveness. This is a party of free monthly webinars on all issues related to couples crisis issues and moving from unhealthy to healthy relationship dynamics.
