Two people were killed and at least six others were injured following a shooting in Auckland, just hours before the opening match of the Women’s World Cup in the city.
Police said the gunman, who is also dead, moved through a building construction site armed with a pump action shot gun and after reaching the upper levels, he “contained himself within the elevator shaft”.
“Further shots were fired from the male and he was located deceased a short time later,” Acting Superintendent Sunny Patel said.
