History of International Tiger Day
The International Tiger Day was initially founded at the St. Petersburg Tiger Summit in 2010.
The summit had issued St. Petersburg statement on Tiger protection with an aim to increase the tiger population by 2022.
International Tiger Day brings attention to this fact and tries to stop their decrease.
Many factors lead to their decreases in habitat loss, hunting, poaching and climate change.
so the International Tiger Day aims to preserve and increase their habitats and raise awareness of the need for protection.
Many international organisations like the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the International Fund for Animal Welfare ( IFAW), etc.
are involved in the celebration of International Tiger Day.
