I've been using the Bantam Tools desktop pcb mill for just over a month now and am finally getting a hang of this powerful and precise little cnc machine. Although its intended use is rapid prototyping pcb's i've been primarily using it for non ferrous metals like brass and aluminum! All the toolpathing and design was done in fusion 360. I started with a face pass to level out the brass stock and then an engraving toolpath to gain some extra visual interest and depth. there was some mild dragging of the engraving tool through the face which i need to figure out (if anyone knows what setting in fusion would have caused that please let me know!) I then used a profile toolpath with 2 tabs to secure the piece. i flipped and faced the stock leaving a small amount of material to secure the piece as i engraved the back just enough so i could free the piece by cutting it with an exacto knife. there was a slight amount of bowing on the backside as 2 tabs may not have been enough but overall the engraving turned out good. I used a piece of hemp cord as the necklace! thanks for watching and here's a daily reminder that you are all beautiful :)
