The new hardtail vise is dramatically different and vastly improved from the original prototype vise. The new hardtail vise is 270lbs (122kg) while the old prototype only weighs 90lbs (41kg). The old prototype was made with tube and plate steel, making it fairly sloppy. The new hardtail is cast ductile iron and machined, making it extremely rigid and removing the slop.
