Gdańsk (2024, Gdansk or Danzig in German) is a city in Poland. The city of Gdansk is close to Gdynia and forms the metropolitan area of Trójmiasto (Tricity). Gdansk lies at the mouth of the Motlawa River. The city of Gdansk has a population of 470,000 and in the metropolitan area live more than 1 million citizens. Gdansk is the most visited city of Poland with almost 4 million tourists per year. Highlights of the city are the old city centre with the Gates, the Town Hall, the St. Mary Church and the Neptune's Fountain, the Motlawa River, the World War II Museum and the Westerplatte Monument.
