The saltwater crocodile, Crocodylus porosus, holds the title for being the largest living reptile species on Earth. These are the 5 largest saltwater crocodiles ever recorded:
Number 5.
Cassius: A famous saltwater crocodile, residing at Marineland Melanesia in Queensland, Australia. Cassius measured 17 feet 11 inches or 5.48 meters in length. He was officially recognized as the world's largest captive crocodile by Guinness World Records in 2011.
Number 4.
Brutus: He gained fame as one of the largest crocodiles in Australia. He resided in the Adelaide River near Darwin and was estimated to be around 18 feet or 5.5 meters long, before his death in 2011.
Number 3.
Dominator: A saltwater crocodile, also from the Adelaide River near Darwin, Australia. He achieved substantial fame due to his enormous size. While his exact measurements aren't widely known, it is estimated that he exceeds 20 feet or 6 meters in length. If you're brave enough, he can still be seen in the Adelaide River.
Number 2.
Lolong: He gained international recognition as the largest crocodile ever measured. He was captured in the Philippines in 2011 and measured a staggering 20 feet 3 inches or 6.17 meters in length. Lolong passed away in 2013.
Number 1.
Gustave: He is a legendary Nile crocodile who is rumored to be as big as 23 feet or 7 meters in length. He is an elusive reptile who has had few sightings by those who have lived to tell the tale. He is rumoured to have killed 200 people. He lives in the Ruzizi River in Burundi, Africa.
