Loose painting is my favorite way of painting in watercolor! Although it does require a bit of planning, painting loose in the watercolor medium keeps you from overthinking each step. I hope you will follow along this tutorial and learn to loosen up and have fun!
I chose dragonflies as my subject because they're light in stature, are not complicated anatomically to sketch, and their wings provide the perfect foundation for painting fast and loose! You can apply the techniques in this tutorial to other animals as well.
