Mo O’Brien aims to be the first deaf person to row across the Atlantic Ocean in a boat. See how Mo uses the ReSound Multi MicTM with her wireless hearing aids to keep the lines of communication open with her daughter and her Oarsome Foursome teammates as they plan a unique bond-strengthening experience. For Mo will take on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2019 in December along with Bird Watts (daughter), Linda Whittaker and Claire Allinson.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is widely referred to as the “world’s toughest row”. In a rocking boat with instructions flying around, situations and sounds change in a split second – as does the weather with fluctuating noise from the wind coupled with humidity and rain. Rowers need to hear all sounds in every direction, get a correct sense of space, cut distracting noises, adapt to different conditions, and react, communicate and feel confident. Rowers with hearing loss, like Mo O’Brien of the Oarsome Foursome, face an even tougher task adapting to this environment and maintaining their bearings. That is why Mo O’Brien wears ReSound ENZO 3D™ wireless hearing aids.
