Reminded of the time 20+ years ago when I learned then President of Ghana Jerry Rawlings was having a joint news conference with Clinton at the White House and I was determined to go and to ask a question.
When I got there and saw the layout: American media with their company names on the seats-abc, NYTimes, etc all up front….and on the Ghanian media side no seating chart. I thought: this time it pays to be Black and it’s the only chance I’m going to get to ask a question. So, I became Ghanian, on the sneak. That media side had Rawlings entourage. I don’t think any journalist from Ghana was there, so I pounced!
