Demonstrators around the globe rallied in support of a huge Hong Kong protest against a proposed change to the city’s extradition law.
Hundreds of people in at least 29 cities in 12 countries around the globe – including New York, Washington, Vancouver, London, Paris and Sydney – held rallies in solidarity.
Organisers estimate that more than one million people joined the June 9, 2019, march in Hong Kong making it one of the largest in the city’s history.
Hong Kong lawmakers are scheduled to vote on June 12 on the government proposal which would allow the transfer of fugitives to jurisdictions with which the city has no extradition treaty, notably mainland China.
