More people have been killed in Niger... during continued protests against Charlie Hebdo′s cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
At least five people were killed on Saturday, the second day of protests, bringing the death toll to10.
The latest protest was sparked by the authorities’ decision to ban a meeting of Muslim leaders.
Police fired tear gas at demonstrators who responded by throwing stones... and setting squad cars on fire.
President Mahamadou Issoufou said in a televised address... those responsible for the violence "have understood nothing of Islam"... and will be punished.
He did add however, that he understood how Muslims could feel offended by the caricatures of the prophet and that freedom of expression should not mean liberty to insult religious beliefs.
